Turn a routine task into a checklist
Turns a task you repeat into a checklist of at most ten items, in the order you do them, with an easy first item and a done line.
Task:
Write a checklist for a task I repeat, so I never have to remember the steps.
Context:
The task is [the routine task]. I do it about [how often] and the step I most often forget is [the step you forget]. I will keep the list in [app or paper].
Rules:
- Use at most ten items, each starting with a verb and fitting on one line.
- Order the items the way I physically do them, and make the first item a quick one that needs no thinking.
- Mark the items that can be done in any order, and end the list with a line that says what "done" looks like.
- If you do not know a step that is specific to my situation, add an item "Check [step name]" instead of guessing.
Result:
The checklist with a box before each item, written as plain text. Nothing else.
