Set up reading aids for long texts
Sets up a way to get through a long text with aids such as a ruler, chunks and notes, and a plan for the first 20 minutes.
Task:
Plan how I get through a long text, including which reading aids to use and what to do in the first 20 minutes.
Context:
The text is [kind of text] of about [number of pages] pages, and I need it by [deadline] for [purpose]. I read on [paper, screen, or e-reader]. My reading trouble is [for example losing my place or drifting].
Rules:
- Divide the text into chunks of a size I can finish in one sitting, and give the number of chunks and the reading time per chunk.
- Suggest three aids that fit my device, such as line focus, font size or highlighting, and explain in one line what each fixes. Say that available features vary per app and I should check mine.
- Give a note format of one line per chunk to capture the main point.
Result:
A short schedule of chunks, the three aids as a list and a first-20-minutes plan in 4 steps.
