Design a one-page weekly metrics dashboard
Designs a one-page weekly dashboard from the decisions you make, with at most six metrics, each with its source, owner role and warning level.
Task:
Design a one-page weekly dashboard for [team or function] that helps us decide what to do on Monday.
Context:
The people who read it are [readers], in a [length] weekly meeting. The decisions it should support are [decisions it supports]. Data we already collect lives in [data sources], and updating it by hand should take at most [minutes] minutes.
Rules:
- Start from the decisions and work backward, so every metric answers a question someone will act on.
- Pick at most six metrics, and for each give the definition in one line, the source, an owner role and a warning level that triggers action.
- Mark any metric I cannot get from my current sources as "needs a source" instead of assuming it exists.
- Name the one metric people are likely to misread, and add a note to prevent that.
- Say which tool features I should check in my own tool and do not claim what a named tool supports.
Result:
A table with the columns metric, definition, source, owner role and warning level, followed by a layout sketch in at most 6 lines of plain text.
