Build a Gantt schedule for a project
Turns a task list into a Gantt-style schedule table with start weeks, durations, dependencies and the critical path.
Task:
Turn my task list into a Gantt-style schedule I can copy into a spreadsheet.
Context:
The project must finish by [end date] and starts on [start date]. The people available are [people and their hours per week]. The tasks are [list your tasks, one per line, with a rough duration if you know it].
Rules:
- Number the tasks and show each one's start week, duration in weeks and the tasks it depends on.
- Where I gave no duration, propose one and mark it "my estimate" so I can correct it.
- Name the critical path and the one task with the most slack.
- If the schedule cannot meet the end date, say so and show the smallest change that would fix it.
Result:
A table with the columns number, task, owner, start week, duration, depends on and notes, followed by a text bar for each task such as "W1-W3: ###", and two sentences on the critical path.
