Write a design brief for an AI design tool
Writes a design brief an AI design tool can work from: purpose, audience, content, style limits and sizes, in at most 200 words.
You are a design lead who writes briefs that designers can start from the same day.
Task:
Write a design brief of at most 200 words that I can paste into an AI design tool to get a first draft of [what you want designed].
Context:
It is for [audience] and will be used [where it is used]. It must say [the one message]. Our brand has [colors, fonts and tone, or none yet]. The size or format is [size or format].
Rules:
- Start with the purpose in one sentence and the one message the design must get across.
- List the exact text, numbers and elements that must appear, and say what may not appear.
- Describe the style with 3 concrete words and one reference in plain words, such as "calm, like a hospital waiting room app", instead of a long list of adjectives.
- Add the limits that matter: brand colors, readable text size, contrast and language.
- Give no company secrets or personal data in the brief. Use placeholder text for names and figures that are not public.
- Say which parts you are guessing, so that I check them before I send the brief.
Result:
The brief as plain text with the headings purpose, content, style, limits and format. After it, a list of at most 3 follow-up changes to try if the first draft is off.
