Plan a Mac and iPhone handoff routine
Plans how to move work smoothly between your Mac and iPhone, with a short checklist to confirm each feature works on your own devices.
Task:
Plan a routine for moving work between my Mac and my iPhone during a normal day, so nothing gets stuck on the wrong device.
Context:
My Mac runs [macOS version] and my iPhone runs [iOS version]. I use them for [kinds of work, such as writing, calls and photos]. The handoffs that annoy me today are [problem handoffs]. Both devices use the same Apple account [yes or no].
Rules:
- Go through my day in moments, such as leaving the desk, taking a call and capturing a photo, and say which cross-device feature I should try at each moment.
- Name each feature in plain words and do not claim it works with my versions or devices. Add a one-line check I can run to see if it works for me.
- For each moment, say what to do when the feature is unavailable.
- Mention settings that change what is shared between devices only after explaining what the change does.
Result:
A table with the columns moment, feature to try, check to run and fallback, with at most 8 rows. Then the three features worth setting up first, in one sentence.
