Plan a one-page dashboard for my key numbers
Plans a one-page dashboard from the questions you need answered, with chart types, data fields and a refresh rhythm.
Task:
Plan a one-page dashboard for [team or purpose] that answers my questions at a glance.
Context:
The questions it must answer are [question 1], [question 2] and [question 3]. The data lives in [where the data is kept] and is updated [how often]. It will be read by [who reads it] on [screen or paper].
Rules:
- Use at most six elements on the page, and say which question each one answers.
- For each element choose a chart type and give the reason in one line. Prefer a plain number or table when a chart adds nothing.
- List the exact data fields needed per element, and flag fields I may not have.
- Put the element that triggers action in the top left.
- Name one misleading way each element could be read, and how to avoid it.
Result:
A table with the columns element, question answered, chart type, data fields and refresh rhythm. Below it, a sketch of the layout as a simple text grid.
