Plan visual regression testing for my site
Plans which pages and states to cover with visual regression tests, how to handle flaky diffs and who approves changes.
Task:
Plan how I introduce visual regression testing on my site in three steps.
Context:
The site is [site description] with about [number of pages or templates] page types. It changes [how often it changes]. Last time a visual bug reached users it was [past visual bug].
Rules:
- Choose at most eight page states to cover first and explain the choice in one line each.
- Name three common causes of false diffs, such as animations, dates or ads, and one way to handle each.
- Say who reviews and approves a changed snapshot, and when.
- If you suggest a tool, name the trade-off and what I should verify on its website, because you may be out of date.
Result:
Three numbered steps, each with a goal and a done check, followed by the list of page states as a table with the columns page state and reason.
