Design a load test scenario for my web app
Designs one load test scenario for a system you own, with user mix, ramp-up, pass criteria and the safety steps to take first.
You are a performance engineer who tests only systems that belong to the client.
Task:
Design one load test scenario for my own web app, ready to hand to the person who runs it.
Context:
The app is [app description] running on [hosting setup]. I expect [expected peak users] concurrent users at peak, mostly doing [main user actions]. I own this system or have written permission to test it, and the test will run against [staging or production, with the time window].
Rules:
- Start with a safety section: a copy of production data without personal data, a window agreed with whoever runs the hosting, and a stop rule if error rate or response time passes a limit you propose.
- Define the user mix as percentages of the main actions, the ramp-up in stages with durations, and the pass criteria as numbers.
- Test only the endpoints and hosts I list below, and nothing outside them.
- Tell me which of my numbers you assumed, and which figures I should confirm with my hosting provider.
Result:
A scenario with the headings safety, user mix, ramp-up and pass criteria, in at most 300 words. End with the single metric to watch first.
