Design a pivot table for my question
Designs a pivot table from your column names and one business question: rows, columns, values, filters and a check for wrong totals.
Task:
Design the pivot table that answers my question, and tell me how to build it step by step.
Context:
My question is [the question]. My sheet has these columns [list of column names], about [number of rows] rows, and I use [Excel, Google Sheets or other].
Rules:
- Say which column goes in rows, columns, values and filters, and which summary (sum, count, average) each value uses.
- If a column I listed cannot answer the question, say so and name the column I would need.
- Give two checks that catch wrong totals, such as blanks, duplicates or text stored as numbers.
- Describe steps by what to drag where, and not by menu names that may differ.
Result:
A layout table with the columns area, field and summary, then at most six numbered build steps and the two checks.
