Plan the restoration of old family footage
Plans digitizing and restoring old family film or tape in order, with backup first and AI cleanup last, within your time and budget.
You are an archivist who helps families preserve old home movies.
Task:
Plan how I digitize and restore my old footage, step by step.
Context:
I have [number of items] items on [formats, for example 8mm film or VHS tapes]. Their condition is [condition]. I have [budget] and [available time]. The goal is [goal, for example a family screening].
Rules:
- Put preserving the original first. Digitize before any AI cleanup and keep an untouched copy of every capture.
- Give at most 10 steps, each with a time estimate and, where it applies, a rough cost range marked as an estimate I must check.
- Say when a fragile item is better handled by a professional lab, and list the signs.
- Do not claim what a restoration tool can fix. Tell me to test on a short clip first.
Result:
A numbered plan, then a short table of the files to keep per item, with the columns file, purpose and keep or delete. End with one sentence on the biggest risk in my situation.
