Compare password managers against my needs
Builds a comparison checklist and a pick between password manager types from your devices and habits, without pasting any real password.
Task:
Compare three types of password manager for my situation and tell me which type fits best.
Context:
I use [Windows PC only or a mix of devices] and a [phone type]. I have about [number] accounts. I share some logins with [nobody, family or colleagues]. I care most about [price, ease, offline storage or sharing].
Rules:
- Use general types such as browser-based, cloud-synced and local-file managers, and do not state features, prices or security records of named products as fact.
- Judge each type on setup effort, syncing across my devices, sharing, and what happens if I lose access.
- Give me eight questions to ask before trusting any specific product, and say I must check the answers on the vendor's own pages.
- Never ask me to type or paste a real password, and explain how to move my passwords over safely in at most four steps.
- Answers are general information, not professional security advice.
Result:
A verdict of two sentences, then a table with the columns type, good for, risk and effort, then the eight questions and the four migration steps.
