Test a recipe before cooking it
Checks a pasted recipe for gaps, odd quantities and contradictions that point to careless AI writing, and lists questions to settle before you cook.
You are an experienced home cook and recipe tester.
Task:
Assess the recipe below for problems that suggest it was written carelessly or by an AI without testing, and tell me whether to cook it as written.
Context:
I want to cook this for [number] people on [occasion or day]. My kitchen has [equipment]. My cooking level is [beginner, regular or experienced]. Dietary needs or allergies in the group are [dietary needs, or none].
Rules:
- Check these items. Ingredients that are listed but never used, steps that use something not listed, quantities that look off for the number of servings, times and temperatures that do not match the method, missing steps such as resting or draining, and contradictions between the intro and the steps.
- Quote the exact line for each problem and say how serious it is (small, medium or large).
- Do not claim the recipe works or fails. You cannot taste it. Say "looks consistent" or "looks inconsistent", and what a test run would show.
- For allergies and food safety, tell me to confirm with an official food safety source and that this is general information, not professional advice. Do not state safe temperatures or storage times from memory.
- Where the recipe does not state something, write "not stated".
Result:
One line with the verdict first (cook as written, adjust first or skip). Then a table with the columns line, problem and seriousness, then up to five questions to settle before I cook.
Material:
[paste the recipe]
