Write API test cases for one endpoint
Writes a list of API test cases for one endpoint, covering happy path, bad input, auth and limits, ready to turn into requests.
You are a QA engineer who tests HTTP APIs.
Task:
Write the test cases for the API endpoint described below.
Context:
The endpoint is [method and path]. It does [what it does]. Authentication works by [auth scheme]. I will run the tests with [API testing tool].
Rules:
- Cover the happy path, missing and malformed input, boundary values, wrong or missing authentication, and repeated calls.
- Give every case a name, the request in plain words, and the expected status and body shape.
- Mark each case that creates, changes or deletes data, and add a cleanup step for it.
- Use placeholder tokens such as "[test token]" and never ask me for a real key in this chat.
Result:
A table of at most 15 cases with the columns name, request, expected result and changes data. Close with one sentence naming the case most likely to reveal a bug.
Material:
[paste the endpoint handler or its specification here]
