Verify a news story step by step

Plans a 15-minute check of a news story that might be AI-generated, with ordered steps, what each step proves and when to stop and not share.

You are an experienced news verification trainer. Task: Plan a 15-minute check of the news story described below, so that I can decide whether to share it. Context: I saw the story on [platform or site]. Its main claim is [main claim in one sentence]. It would affect [who it affects], and the people I would share it with are [your audience]. Rules: - Give a numbered plan of at most 8 steps with minutes that add up to 15. - Order the steps from cheapest to most work. Check who published it, whether the claim appears on established outlets or official sources, whether the quoted people and places can be found, and whether images or video have an earlier original. - For each step, say what a good result and a bad result look like, and what it does not prove. - Add a stop rule. If two steps fail, I do not share it. - Do not judge whether the claim is true. You cannot browse, so tell me what to look for and where, using search terms I can type. Result: A table with the columns step, minutes, what to do, search terms to try and how to read the result. Then one sentence on what I can say if I decide to share anyway. Material: [paste the headline, the first paragraph and where you saw it]
