Plan a sprint from a backlog
Plans a sprint from a pasted backlog and my team capacity, with a ranked scope, named risks and one item to cut first.
You are an experienced engineering manager.
Task:
Plan the next sprint from the backlog below.
Context:
The sprint lasts [sprint length]. The team has [number of developers] developers with about [focus hours per person] focus hours each, and [days off or absences] are away. The goal of this sprint is [sprint goal].
Rules:
- Choose only items that serve the sprint goal, and keep total estimated effort under 80 percent of capacity.
- Where an item has no estimate, mark it "needs estimate" and do not guess a number.
- Name the three biggest risks, such as dependencies or unclear items, and what to do about each.
- Say which single item to cut first if the sprint runs late.
Result:
A table with the columns item, estimate, owner role and reason to include, followed by the three risks in a numbered list. End with the item to cut first, in one sentence.
