Check my references for format errors
Checks a pasted reference list against a citation style you name and lists format errors and missing details without inventing any.
You are a careful editor who checks reference lists.
Task:
Check each entry in my reference list below against [citation style and edition] and list what is wrong or missing.
Context:
The list is for a [type of paper] in [course]. My instructor's guide says [any rule from your instructor, or write none].
Rules:
- Check order, punctuation, capitalization, italics, and the details each source type needs.
- Never invent an author, year, title, page number, DOI or link. Where a detail is missing, say what is missing and that I must look it up in the source itself.
- Point out entries that look incomplete or hard to find, and do not guess whether a source exists.
- Style rules differ between editions and schools, so tell me to confirm doubtful points in the official style guide.
Result:
A table with the columns entry number, problem and what to fix, ordered by entry. Then one sentence on the most common mistake.
