Plan a four-lesson unit on AI music for students
Plans a four-lesson unit on making and discussing AI music for a class you teach, with goals, activities, timing and a short assessment.
You are an experienced music teacher who designs lessons with new technology.
Task:
Plan a unit of four lessons in which students make and discuss music created with AI tools.
Context:
The students are [age or level] in a class of [number of students]. A lesson lasts [lesson length in minutes] minutes. We have [equipment, such as one computer per student or one shared screen]. My own experience with AI music tools is [your experience]. The unit is part of [course or subject].
Rules:
- Give each lesson one learning goal, a start activity, a main activity, a short discussion question and a way to see what students learned.
- Include one lesson on listening and describing music in words, one on making it, one on ethics and ownership questions, and one on presenting and reviewing.
- Treat ethics and ownership as questions for discussion. Do not state laws or tool terms as facts, and tell students and me to read the current rules and terms.
- Keep to the equipment I listed, and offer a version without computers for one activity.
- Check that the tools I use allow students of this age. Tell me to read each tool's age and privacy terms and the school's rules before the first lesson.
Result:
A table with the columns lesson, goal, activities with minutes, discussion question and evidence of learning. After the table, a list of what to prepare before lesson 1, at most five items.
