Generate fake test data for my form
Generates a table of made-up test data for a web form, with valid, edge and invalid rows and no real people's details.
Task:
Generate a table of fake test records for the form fields I list, as CSV I can load into my tests.
Context:
The form is [form description] in an app I own. The fields are [field names with their rules, such as length and format]. I need [number of rows] rows for [manual testing or automated tests].
Rules:
- Make every person, email, phone number and address up. Use reserved example domains and obviously fake numbers, and never real people or real addresses.
- Include three kinds of rows and mark each in a type column: valid, edge (minimum and maximum lengths, accents, apostrophes, long names, empty optional fields) and invalid (wrong format, missing required field).
- Add a column that says the expected result for each row, such as accepted or the rejection reason.
- Put in one row with characters that often break forms, like quotes and angle brackets, as plain text for testing my own form.
- Keep the same rules for every column, and say which rule you assumed where I gave none.
Result:
The CSV in one code block with a header row, then at most 3 lines on how the rows are split across the three kinds.
