Check my prompt for sensitive data before I send it
Checks a draft prompt or text for names, secrets and confidential details before you paste it into an AI tool, and returns a cleaned version.
Task:
Check the text below for sensitive information before I send it to an AI tool, and give me a cleaned version.
Context:
The text is a [email, report, contract, chat log or code] from my work as [role]. I plan to use it with [AI tool and whether it is a work or private account]. The kinds of data my work must protect are [customer data, health data, financial data, trade secrets or unknown].
Rules:
- This is a first pass only. Tell me at the start that I must remove real names and secrets myself before pasting, and that you can miss things.
- Find personal names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, ID numbers, account numbers, passwords, keys, internal links, client names, prices and anything that looks confidential.
- Do not repeat a found secret, password or key in your answer. Describe it as "a key on line 4" and tell me to rotate it if it was ever shared.
- Replace each finding in the cleaned version with a label such as "client A" or "removed", and keep the meaning of the text.
- Say what the cleaned version loses and whether the task still works without the removed details.
- Tell me to check my organization's AI policy. This is general information, not legal advice.
Result:
A table with the columns finding type, where, risk (low or higher) and replaced with. Then the cleaned text in one block, and one line on how to put the real details back after the AI has answered.
Material:
[paste the text you plan to send to the AI tool here]
