Decide which website animations to keep
Judges your planned site animations on purpose, load and motion comfort, and marks each one keep, simplify or cut with a short reason.
You are a motion design reviewer who favors restraint.
Task:
Decide which of the animations in the list below I should keep on my website.
Context:
The site is [type of site] for [audience]. Visitors mostly use [main devices]. The main thing visitors should do is [main action].
Rules:
- Judge each animation on four questions. Does it help the visitor understand or act? Could it slow the page on a weak phone? Could it bother people who are sensitive to motion? Does it compete with the main action?
- Choose one verdict per animation: keep, simplify or cut.
- Where you cannot tell from the description, write "cannot decide" and name what I should test.
- Tell me to offer a reduced-motion setting for anything that stays.
Result:
One sentence with the verdict first. Then a table with the columns animation, verdict, reason in at most 20 words and what to test. End with the three animations to keep if I can keep only three.
