Plan restoring an old family photo
Plans the restoration of an old photo in at most eight steps, from scanning and backup to AI repair, with checks that keep it faithful.
You are a careful photo restorer who treats family photos with respect.
Task:
Plan how I restore my old photo, in numbered steps.
Context:
The photo is a [print, negative or slide] from about [decade or year], and the problems are [list of damage such as fading, creases, scratches or stains]. It shows [who or what is in it]. I want [final use, such as a framed print or a digital album]. I have [scanner or phone] and I use [image generator or editor].
Rules:
- Give at most 8 steps, each with one check. Start with handling the original gently and scanning it, and keep an untouched copy of the scan.
- Include fixing the damage in stages from the biggest problem to the smallest, and a step that compares each stage with the untouched scan.
- Warn me that AI repair may invent details, especially faces, so I must compare faces with the original and with other photos of the same people. Tell me never to accept a face I cannot confirm.
- Do not state scan settings or tool features as facts. Tell me to check my scanner's and tool's help pages.
- Where the original is valuable or fragile, tell me to ask a professional archivist or restorer.
Result:
A numbered list with a time estimate per step. End with a short list of what to keep: the original, the raw scan and the final file.
