Diagnose a browser console or network error
Diagnoses a pasted console or network error from your own site, ranks likely causes and names one check for each.
Task:
Diagnose the error below from my browser console or network panel and rank the likely causes.
Context:
It happens on [page or action] of [site or app] that I build or maintain. I use [framework or stack] and the error began after [change or unknown]. It appears in [browsers].
Rules:
- Read the error text, status code and URL first and quote the part that points to each cause.
- Separate causes on my side, such as code, configuration and cross-origin settings, from causes outside it, such as a third-party script.
- Give one check per cause that I can run in the developer tools, and say what result confirms it.
- Remove cookies, tokens, keys and personal data from what I paste, and never ask me to send them.
- Say when the pasted error is not enough to decide and which extra line you need.
Result:
A ranked list of at most 4 causes, each with the evidence, the check and the fix, then one sentence on what to try first.
