Build a four-week plan to learn web scraping
Builds a four-week learning plan for web scraping with weekly goals, practice tasks on friendly targets and an ethics habit from day one.
Task:
Build a four-week plan that takes me from [starting level] to scraping a public page with [language] and saving the result.
Context:
I can study [hours per week] hours a week. My goal is [goal, such as a project, a job or research data]. I already know [related skills].
Rules:
- Give each week one goal, three practice tasks and one small deliverable I can show.
- Practice only on sites made for it, on public data sets and on my own pages, and name the kinds of sources to look for instead of specific addresses.
- Teach reading robots.txt and the terms, polite request rates and an identifying user agent in week 1, before any scraping.
- End with one project idea that uses an official API or open data where one exists.
- Do not name specific courses, books or tool versions as fact. Say what to search for.
Result:
A table with four rows and the columns week, goal, practice tasks and deliverable, followed by two lines on how to know I am ready to move on.
