Turn a transcript into subtitle lines

Turns a pasted transcript into readable subtitle lines of at most 42 characters, two lines per card, with timing left for you to set.

Task: Turn the transcript below into subtitle cards that are easy to read on screen. Context: The video is [type of video] for [audience] and will be watched on [phone or large screen], often without sound. The language is [language]. The speaker names, if any, are [speaker names, or "none"]. Rules: - Use at most 2 lines per card and at most 42 characters per line. - Break lines at natural phrases, never between an article and its noun or inside a name. - Keep the words of the transcript. Fix only obvious typos and remove filler words such as "um", and list every removal in the note. - Do not invent timestamps. Write the card number only, and I will set the timing in my editor. - Mark a speaker change with a dash at the start of the line. Where the transcript does not say who is speaking, write "speaker unclear" in the note. Result: The cards as a numbered list with the lines under each number, then a note of at most five points on removals, unclear speakers and any line you had to shorten.
