Explain how to read an AI app ranking
Explains what a pasted AI app ranking measures, how it can mislead and which apps on it deserve a closer look for your needs.
Task:
Explain what the AI app ranking below measures and how to read it, so I do not mistake popularity for quality.
Context:
I am choosing an AI app for [what you want to do]. I am a [beginner, regular or advanced] user and my budget is [budget].
Rules:
- Say what the ranking appears to measure, using only the text, for example downloads, revenue, ratings, user votes or editor picks, and write "not stated" if the text does not say.
- List the ways this kind of ranking can mislead, in at most five items, such as paid promotion, new-app spikes, regional differences or counting installs rather than use. Mark which of these the text itself hints at.
- Add no ranks, scores or app facts from memory. Use only the names and numbers in the text.
- From the apps in the ranking, pick at most three that fit my goal on the text's evidence alone, and say what I would still have to check by trying them.
Result:
An explanation of at most 120 words, then the list of ways the ranking can mislead, then a table with the columns app, why it may fit, what to test and a free trial or cost question to ask. End with one sentence on how I decide after a 20-minute test.
